The real reason Vladimir Putin is acknowledging President Joe Biden’s victory
If you’re surprised that people like Mitch McConnell and Vladimir Putin are recognizing Biden’s win today, you shouldn’t be. They’re evil, but not random cartoon evil. These aren’t the types who wake up in the morning and ask themselves what they can randomly set on fire for kicks.
No, they’re professional villains. McConnell and Putin are selfishly and pragmatically evil. They do whatever they think is best for themselves, as opposed to whatever creates the most random chaos. If forced to, McConnell and Putin were always going to backstab Trump in order to shore up their own corrupt positions. It was a given, It’s simply how professional villains operate.
It’s also a reminder that no one, on any side of politics, ever has a magic wand that they can just wave in order to get whatever they want. Putin and McConnell are savvy and powerful, and are able to make a lot of corrupt things happen. But they’re not omnipotent. If they were, they’d have been able to save their useful idiot Trump. Instead they’ve had to settle for sacrificing him in order to try to keep themselves in the game.
Mitch McConnell is in danger of losing his Senate Majority Leader position, and therefore all of his power, if the Georgia Senate runoffs don’t go his way – and he cares more about that than he does about sticking his neck out for Trump. Vladimir Putin is in danger of losing everything if the Biden administration crushes him with sanctions and the Russian oligarchs decide they’ve had enough of it – so Putin has to try to find new footing with Biden instead of clinging to the ghost of Trump.
