The real reason Donald Trump is such a lock for prison

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump knows he needs to pay the legal fees of his co-defendants in Fulton County so they won’t flip on him. And he is in fact paying for many of their legal fees. But yesterday it was reported that Trump has decided not to pay the legal fees of his co-defendant Jenna Ellis, simply because she publicly praised Ron Desantis.

Trump is picking and choosing whose legal bills to pay, not based on trying to save himself, but based on some perverted desire for revenge. This isn’t remotely rational behavior, even from a villain standpoint. This is a guy who’s making bad decisions for himself based on spite and rage.

This is why Trump is such a lock for prison: he’s perfectly willing to destroy himself just to spite those he blames for his downfall. Trump knows he’s going down anyway, so instead of taking rational steps to try to save himself, he’s just trying to get his kicks on his way down.

Donald Trump’s odds of somehow getting acquitted on all ninety-one felony counts across four separate criminal trials were already extraordinarily remote. He was already basically a lock for prison. But when he’s refusing to take the logical step of paying the legal bills of someone who can flip on him and help ensure he’s convicted, it’s fair to say that Trump is trying to destroy himself – thus driving the odds of his downfall even higher.
