The real reason Donald Trump has been quarantined

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Late on Thursday night, Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he was being quarantined while awaiting his coronavirus test results, after he was exposed to the virus by his aide Hope Hicks. This is the sensible move, of course. But that’s what makes it so weird, because this is the first time Trump is doing the sensible thing – and that often suggests there’s something else going on when Trump is involved.

Consider that this is at least the fourth time Donald Trump has been exposed to the coronavirus (Kimberly Guilfoyle, Katie/Stephen Miller, his valet, etc). Each of the previous times, Trump simply blew it off and kept going about his business. Yet this time around he’s not only going into quarantine, he made a point of immediately announcing he was going into quarantine. So what’s the deal?

One possibility is that Trump is convinced Hope Hicks gave him the virus. This could be due to the close proximity of their interactions, or because he has symptoms that make him think he’s caught it. Another possibility is that Trump is using this as an excuse to pull back from campaigning. His in-person campaign events clearly aren’t helping his pathetic poll numbers, and his behavior in public is spiraling out of control to the point of self sabotage.

Perhaps Trump’s babysitters have convinced him he needs to quarantine, because they’re tired of the mess he’s making during his public appearances. Or maybe it’s because the second presidential debate on October 15th happens to fall just inside the fourteen day quarantine window, giving him an excuse to blow it off.

We’ll be a lot closer to having our answer once we see what comes of Donald Trump’s quarantine. Will he quickly announce in a day or two that he’s tested negative and that the quarantine is over? If so, then it was just a ploy for sympathy. Or will he actually quarantine himself for the full fourteen days? If so, it’ll suggest that he’s either sick or he wanted an excuse to stop wasting his time on the campaign trail. In any case, nothing is ever quite what it seems with this idiot.
