The real danger right now

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Unlike Donald Trump, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer cares about the citizens she serves. She instituted protocols to reduce the spread of coronavirus, and she has been paying for it ever since. It was recently reported that the FBI broke up a ring with designs on kidnapping Governor Whitmer and overturning the government of Michigan. Why? Because they listened to the biggest idiot on the planet who told them to “take back their state.” While most normal people would ignore such nonsense, ever since Donald Trump became “president,” we seem to be surrounded by abnormal people, who were apparently there all along but took this moment to come out in public. One might think that Trump would realize the danger in which his rhetoric placed Governor Whitmer, but as usual, he learned nothing. In fact, he decided to make things worse.

MSN reported that at Trump’s rally in Michigan Saturday, he told his followers: “You’ve got to get your governor to open up your state and get your schools open.” What did Trump’s feeble-minded supporters do? They started chanting, “lock her up,” to which Trump added: “Lock ‘em all up.” Whitmer hit the proverbial nail on the head when she tweeted: “This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family, and other government officials’ lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans. It needs to stop.”

Apparently, some people neither want nor feel the need to be saved from their own ignorance. That is their right in a free society; however, they do not have the right to endanger others. Whitmer’s deputy digital director Tori Saylor said that increased online attacks against Governor Whitmer directly coincide with Trump’s rhetoric. Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly worked in the Trump white house, went one step further by saying that GOP leaders are complicit for not denouncing Trump’s behavior, but we all know they have their own selfish reasons for not doing so. Then, there is Trump’s family, who say the most ludicrous things of all.

Lara Trump appeared on CNN’s State of the Union to make the absurd claim that Trump “was having fun.” Really, Lara? How fun do you think it would be if some liberal politician acted similarly to Trump and a group came to kidnap you? She said, with a straight face, “He wasn’t doing anything, I don’t think, to provoke people to threaten this woman at all.” That is the problem, Lara. You do not think. None of this family does. Their privilege is on display, a privilege which they think gives them the right to behave unprofessionally with no consequences. Well, Trump family, your consequences are coming.

This is the very reason why Trump is losing the suburban female vote 60% to 34% to Joe Biden. It is also why, as Politico reported, Nebraska, “the reddest of the red states” is poised to give its one of electoral votes to Joe Biden. Keep kidding around, Trump. Let’s see how funny you find jail. The only shame is that Lara will likely not be joining you, though Donald Jr. and Ivanka might. As Trump said on Saturday, “Lock ‘em all up.”
