It’s bad enough for Donald Trump that more than a dozen of his own administration’scurrent and former officials have testified against him to the House impeachment inquiry. It’s potentially even worse for Trump that Lev Parnas of all people is now offering his full cooperation in the House impeachment probe. Now he has another problem, and it’s coming from within the White House.

There are a number of folks in Donald Trump’s orbit who appear to still be deeply personally loyal to him. Unfortunately for Trump, even though these folks haven’t (yet) turned on him, they’re now turning on each other. Mick Mulvaney has had a heck of a bad few days, and now he’s caught in the middle of an internal feud that’s threatening to destabilize what’s left of Trump’s White House.

Mick Mulvaney and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone are now openly blaming each other for the White House’s craptastically failed handling of the impeachment process thus far, according to a lengthy new expose from the Washington Post. Mulvaney blames Cipollone for the fact that so many Trump officials have testified, while Cipollone blames Mulvaney for going out there and publicly confessing.

More importantly, Mulvaney and Cipollone aren’t just feuding with each other, they’re feuding in public, using the media as a proxy. When two people on the same side are in the fight of their lives, and they’re spending their time publicly blaming each other for how poorly it’s going instead of focusing on how to win, it’s not a good sign about what they think of their side’s odds of survival.
