The post-Trump GOP is imploding
“That was then, this is now” by S.E. Hinton was a favorite book of mine growing up. The central theme of the story is change — the way things were once doesn’t mean that is how they will always be. And haven’t you, friends, and readers encountered that yourself in some form? We all have.
We have all changed in our life’s journey. And we have perhaps encountered others who change from who they once were into something different. Who we are, for example, at 50, isn’t usually how we were when we were 20. Usually, we go forward, maturing, shedding qualities of our older selves that we do not like.
But for the GOP, it’s a bit different. The GOP is going BACKWARD. Instead of growing as a party, they are regressing. It’s sort of a “Benjamin Button” thing — a reverse GOP change. The reason for this has to do a great deal with the Donald John Trump prophesy. It was shouted out by many, including Lindsey Graham that the GOP would be destroyed if they accepted Trump.
Because Trump is a little baby who never grew up and never experienced that change from childhood into adulthood, he fights, rants, and screams as a child would. And he’s rubbed off on Republicans. They have sort of started turning into mini-Trumps. We’ve seen that.
Some Republicans have sought to fight off the Trump Prophesy. Case in point: Tim Scott. And this is something to behold because it shows the Prophesy is doing its work beautifully. Scott, just a few months ago, was known as a pretty lady-back guy, a friendly sort of dude who could work across the table, a nice guy, an authentic guy.
Not anymore. For the reversal has begun. Tim Scott, in the space of mere weeks, is now angrier, more confrontational, a whole lot more venomous. Scott is now referring to us as “the radical left.” That is what he told Newsweek we are.
And on Wednesday, Tim Scott announced that Democrats are the “enemy of the American people.” Scott had no chance against the Prophesy of Trump. It was easy for the prophesy to do its work. It was like taking candy from a baby.
Trumpism disease is an infection of the brain, and very few — almost no republican can fight it. It doesn’t effect us because we see him for what he is.
But those who refuse to do that — they become mini trumps running around open-mouthed and uncouth, hating everything, thinking most people are rotten and in general being miserable. Perhaps it’s their personal karma, their reward for daring to think they could ever fight off the Trump Prophesy.
