The one thing that can’t be overlooked in all this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kamala Harris is now 4.1 points ahead of Donald Trump in the polling averages, and while I want to see that number climb to 7 points before I start to feel comfortable, I firmly believe we’re on the right path to winning. Given that the Palmer Report community has raised more than $100,000 over the past week for Democratic candidates in the most competitive House races, I’m feeling more confident about that as well. But there is one thing I’m increasingly concerned about.

My concern is that this fight isn’t going to end after President Kamala Harris takes office. The Republican Party has gleefully and derangedly become an enemy of the state of sorts. Even with Trump in prison or in the loony bin, the people who now inhabit the Republican Party are just as unhinged as he is, if not more. The GOP isn’t going to vanish overnight, and it’s only going to get more extreme post-Trump. And the political media is only getting worse.

So what’s my concern? Frankly, I’m going to have to keep doing this even after Kamala takes office. The fight isn’t going to go away, so I can’t go away either. My retirement isn’t going to happen for at least another four years. Until at least 2028, Palmer Report is here to stay. What concerns me is that the online advertising industry has been in freefall for a couple years now, and ads just aren’t funding Palmer Report the way they used to.

In terms of ad revenue, it’s tricky enough to still be doing this in 2024. It’ll likely be even trickier in 2025, 2026, and so on. For Palmer Report to continue to exist, with web hosting good enough to let the page load in a reasonable amount of time, and researchers good enough to put me in a position to know what I’m talking about, ads just aren’t going to cut it.

So I’m just going to lay it all out there: I need your help figuring out how to make Palmer Report remain viable beyond 2024. That means becoming reader supported. You can make a one-time donation to our GoFundMe page so we can get the ball rolling, or you can set up a monthly or weekly recurring donation through our PayPal page. I’ll be honest, I need your help with this. But if you’re able to come through for me, I promise I’ll keep working hard to come through for you – not only in 2024 but for the next four years as well.
