The numbers have it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Abortion rights. This is a right so many had taken for granted. And now, these rights stand on the chopping block. The right of women to control their own bodies will be THE issue moving forward. And this is already reflected in the polls.

A new NBC poll found that 60% of people think abortion should be legal. And just 5% say it should be illegal without any exceptions. And another poll — done by MPR/PBS/NewsHour/Marist found two-thirds of Democrats are fired up and more likely to vote in November because of this issue.

So yes, I think it’s fair to say that this issue will play a massive role in the midterm elections. And what many are saying is that this is an issue that has legs. In other words — the results likely won’t go down in the next few months. On the contrary, they’re likely to go UP — especially if and when the Supreme Court releases its final opinion on Roe.

And it will fall to us to keep this issue in the news. We do that with protests, of course, and voter education. This news is good for our side. But there is so much work to do, and we should never take anything for granted.

The Supreme Court is legislating from the bench. They are attempting to turn back the clock and take away a woman’s fundamental independence. If we can keep up the enthusiasm and let the voting public know what is happening, we stand an excellent chance this coming November.
