The New York criminal case against Donald Trump just got even uglier for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Earlier this week I explained why I’m more certain than ever that Donald Trump will end up in prison. The reasoning is simple: when wealthy and powerful people get away with financial crimes, they do it by making sure they’re not investigated for it to begin with. Once a criminal investigation into a wealthy person’s financial crimes gains traction and becomes public knowledge, that person goes down for it. And the New York criminal case against Trump has gained more than enough traction to ensure that he ends up going down. Now it turns out it’s even uglier for him.

Trump’s only hope of escaping prison would have been if New York prosecutors ended up going bust with their investigation, and merely indicted Allen Weisselberg in order to avoid the whole thing being seen as a total loss, before quietly shutting down their probe. But that didn’t happen. It’s been widely reported that since the Weisselberg indictment came down, the grand jury is still hearing from new witnesses, which essentially by definition means more people are being indicted.

Now for the truly ugly part: the New Yorker is revealing that the indictment language against Weisselberg accuses him of having prepared a separate general ledger just for Donald Trump’s use. This means that not only did the Trump Organization have two sets of books, Trump knew there were two sets of books.

This means that once Donald Trump is indicted and placed on trial for the Trump Organization’s financial fraud, he can’t claim that he didn’t know what Weisselberg was doing. The separate ledger proves that he was in on the financial deception. Having two sets of books generally translates to an automatic conviction for every corporate officer who knew about it. So not only does this help make clear that Trump is going to prison, is raises the question of whether his kids knew about it as well – because everyone who knew is going down for it.
