The most hilarious scenario possible could end up playing out in the Republican House

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Insurrectionist House Republicans are threatening to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson over his plan to fund aid for Ukraine. This could easily set up a scenario in which House Democrats block Johnson’s ouster so that he can make Ukraine aid happen.

But with the way House Republicans keep resigning without regard for their party’s collapsing hold on the majority, it’s entirely realistic that one or two of them could soon end up bailing. In such case Republicans would no longer be the House majority, Mike Johnson would no longer be Speaker, and Democrats would make Hakeem Jeffries the Speaker.

It’s impossible to try to put odds on this scenario. There’s no way to know how many or few additional House Republicans might soon be planning to resign. That number could be ten or it could be zero.

But it’s now certainly a realistic scenario that House Democrats could get Ukraine aid out of Mike Johnson and then get rid of Mike Johnson.

Keep in mind that even if this does happen, we‘d still need to put in the work on the competitive House races, in order to keep the majority in November. But if the above scenario plays out in the meantime, it’ll be the most hilarious outcome possible.
