The more egregious January 6th attackers are finally getting what they deserve

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

There is so much misinformation out there it is making it very difficult to know who and what to believe. Take, for example, the January 6 insurrectionists. There is a common belief among many that the insurrectionists are not getting what they deserve, and that just isn’t true.

Many have mentioned the light sentences some of the terrorists have received. But here’s the thing — most of those folks are not the ones who engaged in violence. Of course, these people would get less time than the hardcore insurrectionists — the ones who used violence or threatened it.

Robert Scott Palmer is one such person. And he is in deep trouble. Palmer has pleaded guilty to assaulting police with a dangerous weapon. Palmer stands accused of hurling a fire extinguisher at the Capitol police. He also threw other weapons such as wooden boards.

He also reportedly spoke to a reporter and said the goal was to “subvert a democratic election.” And prosecutors are not seeking a short few months. They have been asking for more than five years. Palmer is from the state of Florida and traveled to the Capitol to attend the “stop the steal” rally.

The Department of Justice has weighed in and said that Palmer deserves “more than five years” because of how prominent a role he played. He will be sentenced on December 17. And I highly doubt it will be for just a few months.
