The media is making a mess of the Trump trial already
Yet again, we witness Donald Trump’s flagrant disregard for the law, behavior that has become all too familiar. Donald Trump is engaging in jury intimidation. There is simply no getting around the fact that this is what he’s doing. Of course, he would deny it, but Trump, along with his best buddy, Fox Non-News, is not listening to requests for him to—well—NOT break the law.
Jesse Watters, nobody’s favorite frat boy, declared on his show that liberal jurors were attempting to sneak onto the jury. That’s an outright lie, and he knows it. But because of what he said not to mention OTHER networks who engaged in disclosing the occupations and backgrounds of jurors, one juror showed up on Thursday, expressing concerns about her privacy. This juror was allowed to leave.
Another juror was dismissed after concerns came to light about whether he’d answered questions honestly. The bottom line is it isn’t just Trump. The media is engaging in lousy behavior, from carelessness to possibly putting jurors at risk.
A hearing has been scheduled for next week over Trump’s violation of the gag order, which, at the time of this writing, he’s been accused of doing seven times. I’ve no doubt the judge will come down hard on him. Reportedly, Trump’s legal team scrutinizes prospective jurors’ social media posts. They do appear rather paranoid, don’t they?
In the long term, though, whatever Trump and his legal team and Fox think they can do will only backfire. Rest assured, a jury panel will be selected. They will be sworn in. There is absolutely nothing Donald Trump can do to halt the trial that is steadily moving forward.
He can protest, he can shout, he can contort his face in anger, but at the end of the day, what we’ve all been waiting for, for so very long — Trump’s reckoning is and will happen, and there is not one damn thing the traitor can do to prevent it.
