The magic number
Democratic Senators have flat out said that if you give them 52 seats, they can start fixing this. That’ll give them 50 votes to exempt important stuff from the filibuster, even without Manchin or Sinema. So let’s give the Democrats what they’re asking, and then hold them to it.
Yes, we must keep the House, and we’ll get to that soon. But as for the Senate, how do we get to 52 seats? The math is very straightforward. We target the 5 most flippable seats, defend the 4 most vulnerable seats, and that gives us a goal of 55 seats – with 52 as a fallback.

These are the nine races that, at present, appear to be for all the Senate marbles. We’ll adjust the list if additional Senate races look more competitive. This is how we get the Senate up to 55 Democratic seats. Even if we don’t win every race we target, it still gives us breathing room to reach that magical 52 seat number, which Senate Democrats are asking for in order get things done.
For those asking why 52 seats matters: it only takes 50 Senate votes (plus the VP) to exempt anything from the filibuster. But because Manchin and Cinema sold out, we have 50 Democrats but only 48 legitimate Democrats. Add two more, and 52 seats gives us 50 legitimate Democrats.
It’s either this, or what? Sit around and complain, and lose everything, and watch a Republican Senate majority destroy us? UNACCEPTABLE. This is war, metaphorically speaking and we don’t have time for whining or Democrat-bashing. Let’s get our heads on straight, and help get to the 52 Senate seats to start turning this around.
