The last days of Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump is welcome to hold all the rallies he wants. It never helps the candidates he’s supposedly promoting. And each time he speaks in public, it reminds mainstream Americans that he’s not within a million miles of being viable for 2024. Let Trump run his mouth. His life is over, at least as he knows it. These are the last days of Donald Trump.

Also, by the way, the DOJ will have fun tuning in for Trump’s rally speech to see the ways in which he incriminates himself in his stolen classified document scandal. The things he’s saying about this scandal during his rally speech will be used as evidence at his criminal trial.

The best thing about Trump’s supporters is that they’re so clueless about the political process, they think just going to a rally and stomping their feet somehow helps Republican candidates. In contrast, our side knows that if we want to win the midterms it’ll have to be by putting in actual work to get out the vote.

Simply going to a rally for your candidate or party accomplishes nothing. The entire point of a rally is so that you, as a core supporter of that candidate or party, leave the rally fired up to go out into the community and drive the vote for your candidate and party. If you’re only going to a rally do you can feel the rush of adrenaline from stomping your feet, and then you do nothing to follow up on it, you’ve accomplished literally nothing. You delivered zero additional votes for your side.

Of course Trump supporters generally only go to rallies so Trump can explain to them who’s to blame for the fact that they hate their own lives. It’s not about trying to win an election, or change minds. It is, as its so often described, simply a cult. Trump is, if anything, harming the Republican Party’s prospects by holding these ego-stroking vanity rallies.

Meanwhile back in the real world, we’re looking to win the midterms. We know that requires donating, volunteering locally, volunteering online remotely, and spreading the word about the most competitive candidates and races. If we do periodically go to a political rally, it’s only to remind ourselves of what we’re fighting for once we get back home. We’re not broken losers looking for someone to arbitrarily blame for how our lives turned out. We’re aspiring activists looking to win the midterms and make a real difference in the world. Let’s go win this!
