The insanity continues

Polls should be taken with the largest grain of salt possible. But if the media is going to use polls as the basis for proclaiming the state of the 2024 presidential race, then the media should at least quote the polls accurately, right? But even as the polls continue to show a roughly tied race between Biden and Trump, and the latest 538 model gives Biden a slightly greater chance of winning than Trump, the media is still pretending that the polls show Biden hopelessly behind. And that’s just the start of the insanity.

The media is now insisting that Adam Schiff has privately turned against Biden. But this is the same media that just got caught falsely claiming that everyone from Nancy Pelosi to Ted Lieu had turned against Biden. Why would we believe anything that that media has to say about the topic now?

Then there’s the phony controversy about the DNC virtually nominating Biden ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which is only happening in order to meet the Ohio ballot requirement. But the media is falsely spinning this as some kind of desperate attempt to hurry up and cement Biden as the nominee. As is so often the case these days, it’s a fictional storyline being hyped by the media that doesn’t even exist.

It’s not that the media isn’t facing blowback for its insane behavior. Things are so out of control over at MSNBC that Morning Joe Scarborough threatened to quit on air one day after the network benched him in the wake of the Trump shooting. The New York Times has faced so much backlash for calling on Biden to drop out of the race that it’s now calling for Trump to drop out of the race.

Even as the media continues to face consequences for the things it’s been making up and the things it’s been trying to bury, the media keeps playing the same game. When will any of these major media outlets learn? Audiences want the truth, not pulse pounding hyperbole. All I can promise you is here at Palmer Report we’ll keep calling it straight, even as we keep pressuring the media to do the same. The stakes are simply too high. Donate
