The House Republican majority is now in even greater danger

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $2097 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

You wouldn’t know it from all the false media headlines about how the Republicans supposedly “dominated” the 2024 election across the board, but the Democrats actually gained a couple House seats. This has House Republicans facing a very small majority. Now it’s apparently about to get even smaller โ€“ in the weirdest way possible.

House Republican Victoria Spartz has announced that while she’s going to remain in the House, she won’t be participating in any committees or in the House Republican caucus because โ€“ get this โ€“ she wants to spend all her time working on Elon Musk’s DOGE project instead. That’s right, an elected Republican official now says that instead of doing her job, she’s going to focus on imaginary meetings with an imaginary government agency.

I say good. This makes the House Republican majority even weaker. If Spartz isn’t going to participate in her own party’s caucus, then she might as well not be there in terms of majority math. At this point we might be one or two resignations or scandals away from Republicans losing control of the House entirely. We’re not going to sit back and count on that happening, but it’ll be a great bonus if it does.
