The GOP’s worst fear is coming true

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Fear is an odious emotion. And yet, many people cannot let go of fear. It’s a dark and brooding emotion that’s all the more ominous because fear can change our brain chemistry, turning rational people into shadows of themselves.

And very often — quite often — the fear of something is actually worse than whatever it is the person is afraid of. The Republicans’ worst fear is coming true. And this is one of those cases where what they fear is, in fact, as awful as the fear itself.

Donald Trump has issued a warning, and it’s a warning that I’m sure will have every Republican up at night for many nights to come. Trump has threatened to primary House Republicans who refuse to impeach Biden.

Now before I go on, I will stress once again Biden will NOT be impeached. They don’t have the votes. But that doesn’t mean Trump will stop in his warnings. Trump is jealous because Biden’s a great President, and he (Trump) wasn’t. It’s all very simple.

And so now House Republicans must make a decision, as they see their worst fear coming true. Their insane cult leader, their belligerent Messiah, is now threatening their jobs — unless they do what he wants.

During a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend, trump promised to endorse primary opponents of any Republican who doesn’t do as he says and votes to impeach. And how terrified the little Republican lambs must be! How frightened they must feel! Of course, it doesn’t have to be this way. And I have a solution for them.

I’m sure you’re familiar with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous address: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” As I said at the start of this article, usually — USUALLY — the fear of an event is worse than the actual event itself.

Peoples’ imaginations can work wonders in creating and exaggerating the very height of fear. So if the GOP — came out as one single entity — one voice – and told Donald Trump to GO TO HELL — that they’re not afraid, that there isn’t anything he can do to hurt them, and that they will not live their lives in servitude to him, — just like that — their problems vanish.

Yes, some of them might be primaried. But that’s short-term thinking. The very best executives always look at the long-term picture, not the short-term. In the end, it would free them. They’d be able to see the sun again. They’d be able to breathe the air, and that air would not be fringed in panic. It could change their whole lives.

Sadly, in Republican politics, courage is not something many Republicans have. And so they will likely continue in service and servitude of Donald Trump, letting him own them, possess them, and letting themselves drown in fear itself.
