The GOP should be terrified of this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Like most prominent Republicans, Ron DeSantis doesn’t take too kindly to criticism. This would explain why he’s vetoing money from the Florida state budget that would otherwise be going to the districts of state senators who endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2024 over him. It’s not really the most flattering look for a presidential hopeful, much less a governor with a floundering presidential campaign whose own popularity is already atrophying within their own state.

If there were anyone who didn’t know how to pick their battles, it would probably be this guy – as he felt the need to openly rebuke the much more competent and much more popular California Gov. Gavin Newsom who singled DeSantis out as a “small, pathetic man” when Newsom went on Hannity to criticize the draconian policies Republican governors have been pushing as a whole.

DeSantis threw a tantrum when pressed on Newsom’s comments, rather than just ignoring the question like a smart person would have done – demanding that Newsom enter the ring and run for president against President Biden. In doing so, he gave away the game. Newsom is one of the president’s strongest supporters – even starting a Campaign for Democracy PAC that champions his cause of protecting democracy – it makes zero sense for him to do what DeSantis is demanding – but it also reveals that DeSantis, like the rest of the Republican clown car, really doesn’t want to have to face President Biden in 2024 for re-election – who has created a record 13 million jobs in office and will absolutely run on it.

We very much do have an incumbency advantage and it should be clear by now that the GOP – who should have a party leader but very much does not – is terrified of that. Let’s take them down and win in 2023 and 2024.
