The GOP just stepped in it
Incompetence is something not often talked about but seen regularly. Nobody knew this better than Vincent Bugliosi. Bugliosi was the attorney who prosecuted Charles Manson and was also a very prolific (and excellent) writer.
In his book “Outrage: The Five Reasons Why O.J. Simpson Got Away with Murder,” Bugliosi eloquently argues that the best way to deal with incompetence, which is all around us, is to have low expectations about everything. That way, he explains, when competition shows up, it’s a pleasant surprise.
And I’ve tried to follow this advice. But it’s a bit different in how I look at the GOP. Instead of having no expectations, I have high expectations—not of competence but of massive, unending, nonstop incompetence.
See, there’s also this little thing about past behavior being an indicator of present and future behavior. Since the GOP has not managed to do ONE competent thing in a year, I expect that they will continue to screw up and screw up and screw up even more. And now they have.
This latest morsel in the incompetence arena is so shockingly stupid and incredibly unreal that it’s difficult to believe it happened. But happen it did, and I am about to tell you ALL about it.
The new RNC — in the hands of its new master and commander, Donald, Traitor Trump has decided to — wait for it — eliminate Republican mail-in voter efforts. The Oscars were this past week. If an Oscar could have been given to the biggest morons, the GOP would have won one.
The program has been scrapped. The RNC is “shuttering the program.” This news comes from The Washington Post. This program is called “Bank your vote.” Now it SHOULD be called “Sank your vote”, as this program has been sunk and replaced with — wait for it –finding more people to vote for Donald Trump.
Not down-ballot candidates. Oh no, not these people. I imagine “down-ballot” is a dirty word for the new RNC. The one word, the ONLY word that seems to matter to them, is: Trump.
The other thing the new RNC prioritizes is hiring lawyers to challenge voter laws. This makes sense since the GOP can no longer win elections, so it stands to reason they’d want as low a turnout as possible.
So Republicans, say goodbye to voter outreach for black and brown people and say goodbye to early voting for Republicans. It doesn’t matter to this new and already failing RNC. At this point, I would NOT be surprised if the campaign slogan they roll out is that cheap-looking gold statue of Trump from CPAC.
