Donald Trump is an island onto himself when it comes to his admiration for Vladimir Putin. Even Josh Hawley, who was recently in the pro-Putin camp, has spoken out against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Recall that Hawley wanted to block Ukraine from joining NATO, but he is now singing a different tune. According to Washington Post, Hawley has asked for sweeping action in a statement: “President Biden must act now to hit Vladimir Putin where it hurts, beginning with Russia’s energy sector.” Apparently, Hawley now wants to hit Putin where it hurts. At least he is not a traitor at Trump’s level, who thinks Putin parted the red sea. What a loser. Even Republicans who go out of their way to make life hard for our Democratic president are behind sanctions against Putin. Who’s the RINO?

Though other Republicans appear to continue trying to blame President Biden for what is happening in Ukraine, they have rallied behind the idea that Putin should “pay a severe price” for attacking Ukraine. That is all well and good, but they should try coming out against Donald Trump and his un-American activities. Apparently, there is only so far they are willing to go to put country before party, even as their alleged party leader continues to do and say things that show a complete lack of support for the U.S. Of course, Trump merely uses these opportunities to continue to claim the 2020 election was “rigged,” as he did on Fox recently. The man has a one-track, hapless mind. Mike Pence, also appearing on Fox was clear that he does not agree with Trump: “No one in the GOP should be praising Vladimir Putin. He’s a former KGB officer and a dictator and a thug.” Yet, none of them have the balls to tell Trump to shut up and sit down.

While Republicans decide whether they would rather spend their time supporting our president by defending Ukraine, heartbreaking photos are coming out of people trying to escape with their pets and news of people needlessly dying. These petty party arguments are so less important than what the people of Ukraine are experiencing, and they need our support, not bickering between parties. A recent Quinnipiac poll reveals that Republicans are divided over the issue of sending troops to support NATO and Ukraine. This poll further showed that Republicans see China as more of an enemy than Russia. Really? Funny, China has not attacked a neighboring country. This foolishness from the Republican party needs to end. They need to, for once, show their loyalty to this country by supporting President Biden’s decisions and try helping for a change instead of pointing fingers and complaining. This country is a mess, and the Ukrainian crisis is making that even clearer when people refuse to come together for the common goal by putting politics aside for once.
