The George Santos saga gets even weirder

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Theodotus caused a great deal of problems for Queen Cleopatra. Theodotus was a tutor to Cleopatra’s brother. However, he was also something else. That is power hungry. He wanted power. In Greek history, it is said that he is the one who presented the head of Pompey to Caesar, and later, he was widely suspected in a plot to assassinate the Egyptian Queen herself.

It took a long time to bring him to Justice. In some accounts, he escaped the palace in the dead of night while Justice was being meted out for his co-conspirators. The point is — sometimes it takes time to bring people to Justice. It took lots of time for Theodotus, though he was eventually found. It took time for Donald Trump. It might take time for George Santos.

Santos was NOT expelled from Congress the other night, making the master liar, giddy, and triumphant. It shouldn’t.

The fact is, this is good news for us in a way. Do we want Santos out on his ass? Yes. But the fact that he is NOT out on his ass poses much risk to Republicans especially those moderates (who are not REALLY moderate but pretend to be) from New York who are now living a nightmare as they are likely trying to figure out what to say to their constituents who despise Santos.

Santos is an albatross for Republicans, and they know it. This vote was never going to come down on the side of expulsion. There are too many republican crazies for THAT to happen. Plus, most of the votes in favor of expulsion were from Republicans in swing districts.

Santos posted on Twitter that this was a victory for due process. And he actually tweeted a meme of himself – with a crown on his head. The fool! George Santos does remind me of those spoiled and wicked courtiers and fools from monarchies gone by.

He also makes the same mistake so many have made before him. He thinks himself invincible. We will be rid of him in one way or another. Perhaps he will go to prison. Perhaps he really will run in 2024, and mark my words, he won’t be voted back in.

But I think he doesn’t last until 2024. Santos is right now on a VERY heavy drug — that drug is power. He thinks he has it, not understanding that he’s a punchline and that most people follow him on social media to scorn him and to laugh. Meanwhile, these Republicans that we need to beat SO BADLY to take back the House are miserable — which should make us very happy indeed.
