The game is afoot
After the 2016 elections I repeatedly said it was going to get worse before it gets better. And it did. For starters, at least 400,000 more people died of COVID than necessary due to willful incompetence, and SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade. But then Biden was elected and things got better.
Then the 2024 presidential “election” hurled us backwards. Interference included Musk illegally buying votes and Russia making dozens of fake bomb threats in blue districts. Russian-sourced character assassinations forced Biden out and falsely discredited Harris so that even SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade didn’t bring enough voters out in support of Harris-Walz.
Now as Republicans tacitly allow Musk to implement Project 2025, they’re saving the worst for last. I predict House Republicans will announce a bill for a federal abortion ban around the time they announce their budget resolution based on Trump’s evil agenda, in a few months.
Meanwhile, Trump is using the DOJ and FBI to intimidate U.S. citizens. Voter disenfranchisement measures have already begun. Just as Trump secretly planned the January 6th insurrection, he will not hesitate to declare Martial Law and use our military against us.
I disagree that Trump is normalizing violence in America. Trump is exploiting America’s propensity for violence. The leading cause of death of children in America is gun violence. It’s impossible to pass gun safety laws. However, the Right does not solely hold the violence card. Americans don’t sit around while foreign enemies try to take over our democracy.
Their overreach these first 67 days of the second Trump term is waking up the masses. Protests are growing. Reportedly over a million people have signed up for the nationwide April 5th protests. TeslaTakeDown protests have helped tank Tesla’s international sales, stock price, and brand.
Non-violent protests have the power to change the course of history, often because peaceful protesters put themselves in harm’s way. Like the deadly force used against Kent State students protesting the Vietnam War, violence by law enforcement will backfire.
Like Ukraine fighting Russia, we must be strategic and keep pummeling the GOP’s weaknesses. The Republican front is beginning to fracture. As recent special elections indicate, Americans are also protesting with our votes. In the Midterm Elections, we will vote despite bomb threats and other voter disenfranchisement tactics.
