The floodgates are now open

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Former Trump official Mick Mulvaney testified yesterday to the January 6th Committee. Former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is reportedly negotiating to testify next. It’s not just that the dam has broken; it’s that former Trump people now seem to be tripping over each other to testify against him.

The committee’s smart work to get things to this point, combined with everyone finding out that Donald Trump is under DOJ criminal investigation, has created an environment where they all know Trump is going down – and many of them now want to insulate themselves from his downfall.

Mulvaney inexplicably has a cushy job with CBS News. Mike Pompeo has delusions about running for President someday. These guys are betting that by the time the smoke clears from the January 6th public hearings and the DOJ’s Trump investigation, being anti-Trump will almost be a necessity for anyone who wants to continue participating in the national political landscape. They see where this is headed, and they’re covering themselves accordingly. When it’s all said and done, they may even try to take credit for having finished Trump off. But we’ll all know they were just trying to protect their own selfish ambitions.
