The Extreme Court strikes again

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I’ve often used ancient Greek mythology in my works, as you know. It’s a subject of passion for me. There were many Gods and goddesses in the Greek stories. There are no Gods or goddesses in America.

These Greek myths are just that — Myths. And America suffers no delusions about Gods. We have none in this great country. Every four years, we have an election. We vote. And then someone becomes President of the United States — for FOUR YEARS. And then there’s another election. That’s how things roll in America. This is why we’re a free country. And for the most part, it’s worked well.

But although we have no Gods, there are a few people who think that we do. A few people carry themselves with the arrogance of those ancient Gods. And they must be part of our discussions in 2024.

“These people are not GODS!” These words are from “The Nation’s” Elie Mystal, who went off on the Justices of the Supreme Court. And he’s right. There must be accountability. On Saturday morning on MSNBC, Mystal said, “It is reasonable to expect these people (the Justices) to submit to the same ethical requirements that would apply to a traffic court judge in Peoria.”

But what if they don’t WANT to submit? What do we do then? We make it a campaign issue. Actually, we already have. There’s so much we can do if we can get the votes. Court reform, a code of ethics, court expansion — nothing is off the table.

I believe we’ve tried our best with this court. At the end of the day, that’s all one can do — try their damnedest. The court, however, seems to think they’re American Gods. That’s a myth. As I said, this country suffers no Gods.

Power corrupts, as we know. We can see examples of that all over the world. Power for centuries has corrupted many and will continue to do so. The best solution to excess power are the American people.

Because our nation is not founded on America Gods, nor is it founded on extreme Justices whose power has gone to their heads. It’s founded on you — and me — and all the beloved Americans who have the freedom to vote and to help shape the America THEY want with their voices and votes.
