The end of the Republican Party

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This weekend the Republican Party of Arizona used its official Twitter account to declare that it is no longer the party of John McCain, instead implying that it is now the party of Trump. Well okay then. That’s fine. The Democrats will be happy to adopt McCain’s legacy if the Republicans no longer want him. Cindy McCain is working with the Biden administration at this point anyway.

Here’s the thing though. The Republican Party of Arizona isn’t just being disrespectful, ignorant, and extremist by casting aside the likes of John McCain. It’s also being phenomenally stupid. Arizona had two Republican Senators for a very long time. Now it has two Democratic Senators instead. Arizona also just voted for a Democrat for President. The crazed attitude on display from the Republican Party of Arizona is a big part of the reason why.

Even if you classify Arizona as a purple state based on demographics, there’s a reason why the Democrats are now winning big in the state, and the Republicans are losing big. Simply put, the Democrats have become the big tent with room enough for the far left, the moderate left, the middle, and even the slightly right, while the Republicans are rapidly becoming a party solely for the far right. That’s a recipe for losing elections, and losing relevance. The Whig Party once devolved into a regional party and then folded; the Republican Party seems intent on doing the same.
