The end of Parler

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

At this point Donald Trump has been kicked off essentially every social media platform – from Twitter to Facebook to Shopify to Pinterest – with the lone exception of Parler. Now it turns out Trump might not make it over to Parler, because by the end of the day there could no longer be a Parler.

Apple and Google have now both removed the Parler app from their respective app stores, meaning it can’t be downloaded for iPhone, iPad, or Android. Users can still go directly to the Parler website, but apparently not for long. Amazon’s web hosting division hosts a large number of major websites, and Parler happens to be one of them. But now, citing Parler’s steady increase in violent content, Amazon is now kicking Parler off its servers later today.

Parler can try to find another web host, but there are a relatively small number of hosts that can handle a website of that size. At the least, Parler will be offline for some time. And if no other web hosting service is willing to host Parler, it’ll be the end of Parler altogether. It would bring a swift and ignominious end to the far right lunatic social network.
