The end of Donald Trump
Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg is surrendering himself to the authorities this morning. The full text of the criminal indictments against him and the Trump Organization will be publicly released this afternoon. The Trump Organization should be in total freefall by the end of the week. And this is just the beginning.
It’s what we’ve finally been waiting for. This is not just the arrest of yet another Donald Trump underling who may or may not flip on him. We’ve all seen that movie before. This is, finally, fundamentally different. This is the criminal indictment of Donald Trump’s company. This the end of his company. His real estate empire, his financial house of cards, his buildings with his name on them, are all goners.
This time Donald Trump isn’t in position to pardon his underling to keep him quiet (and no, there is no secret pardon in place; these are state charges). This time Trump isn’t in control of the prosecutorial body that’s going after him, as was the case when he was President and the DOJ and FBI were trying to take him down. This time, there’s no insulating Trump’s financial house of cards from the criminal prosecution that’s playing out. And this time, prosecutors have a clear lane for criminally indicting Trump himself once the criminal case inevitably reaches that point.
Today is not the end of Donald Trump. But it is, finally, mercifully, the beginning of the end of him. Today begins the active dismantling and destruction of evey aspect of Trump’s life. Trump, who has spent fifty years committing crimes big and small, is now helpless against what’s happening to him. This is why we worked so hard to make sure he lost the election. He can’t stop what’s coming. The end of Donald Trump has begun.
