The DOJ just indicted the guy at the center of the corruption scandal that got Ken Paxton impeached

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

So the Department of Justice had a busy day on Thursday. Even as it was criminally indicting Donald Trump under the Espionage Act, it was also separately indicting someone close to one of Trump’s allies.

The DOJ has indicted and arrested a Texas man named Nate Paul, according to the Wall Street Journal. Why is this relevant? Texas Republicans just impeached and removed their state’s Attorney General Ken Paxton, after accusing Paxton of having corruptly used his office to enrich Paul.

This may explain why Texas Republicans were suddenly in such a hurry to shove Paxton out the back door. With Paxton’s alleged co-conspirator now under indictment, one would think that Paxton would be next to be indicted. After all, Paxton has been under federal and state criminal investigation for a long time, and now it seems to be nearing a crescendo.

There’s no reason to believe that the DOJ’s indictment of Donald Trump and the DOJ’s indictment of Ken Paxton’s ally on the same day is anything other than a coincidence. But it sure does point to the notion that a number of these long running federal criminal investigations into Trump world are now paying off.
