The DOJ has cut a January 6th cooperating plea deal that’s bad news for Trump world
The DOJ has flipped one of the Proud Boys leaders, per Vice. This means that not only are the Proud Boys toast, so is everyone in Trump world who conspired with the Proud Boys. Keep in mind that when you cut a deal like this, you give up everyone in order to get the maximum amount of leniency.
This comes weeks after the news that the DOJ flipped an Oath Keepers leader who just happened to have been Roger Stone’s driver during the week of January 6th. By definition this means that the Oath Keepers flipper has already given the DOJ everything he has on Stone, along with anyone else in Trump world that he interacted with.
If Trump world is going to go down for January 6th and the overall plot to overthrow the election, this is how it’s done. In order to take down higher-ups in a criminal plot who weren’t hands-on in committing the actual physical crime, you need the cooperation of inside witnesses who can provide first hand testimony, hard evidence, electronic communications evidence, and context for how the people in Trump world were criminally culpable.
Now the DOJ has the official full cooperation of at least one Proud Boys leader and at least one Oath Keepers leader. Keep in mind that the DOJ has generally secretly been several steps ahead of us at any given point in this probe. For instance, by the time the news broke weeks ago that the DOJ had a January 6th grand jury targeting Trump world, that grand jury had already been secretly active for months. So if these are the two cooperators we know about, there are likely more that we don’t yet know about. And if someone in Trump world does flip (or has flipped) on Trump himself, we won’t initially know about that either.
