The Democrats keep winning even more elections as the night goes on

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s nearly midnight eastern time, and even after the Democrats got the big headlining wins of the night, they’re still piling on with even more wins as the night goes on.

Hours after the Democrats safely retained the majority in the Virginia State Senate, they’ve now also flipped the Virginia House of Delegates. The Democrats now control everything in Virginia except the Governor’s seat, which wasn’t on the ballot tonight. This means that Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin is set to be comparatively powerless for the final two years of his term, and is potentially on track to lose in 2025. But wait, there’s more.

The Democratic Party-aligned candidate has also won the Pennsylvania Supreme Court election by about seven points tonight. This matters for when the 2024 presidential election is inevitably challenged in court. This will make it that much harder for the Republicans to successfully cheat in 2024.

So tonight’s ongoing wins have the dual effect of making clear that the Democrats are in a strong position to win in 2024, and also procedurally making it easier for the Democrats to win in 2024. The good news keeps on coming.
