The Democrats didn’t just win in NY03, they won BIG TIME

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

New York’s 3rd House District is very evenly matched between the two parties, and in fact the Republicans won it in 2022. Accordingly, I went into today’s special election saying that if Democratic candidate Tom Suozzi won even by a single vote, it would be good news for Biden and the Democrats in November. I also said that if Tom Suozzi won by a decisive margin, such as three to four points, it would be a great sign for November.

Now it turns out Suozzi has not only won, he’s on track to win by perhaps ten points. That’s nothing short of stunning, in a swing district that’s recently been won by both parties, in a race that was rated “toss up” by the best nonpartisan rating entities out there. You’re not supposed to win toss up races by a margin as big as ten points. This is huge.

The huge size of this victory also takes away the media’s ability to claim that the Democrats only won because of the weather, or whatever other nonsense they’re looking to trot out. Even if the weather did give Suozzi an advantage, it didn’t make for a ten point swing. Suozzi would still have won without the snow. And it means that Biden and the Democrats are officially favored in November. Now let’s go make sure it happens.
