The Democratic Party got Kyrsten Sinema to cave while you were busy insisting she’d never cave

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Picture your life as one big, abundant lake. This lake has within it a variety of pebbles. Pebbles are the trinkets of life that help make one who they are. But some pebbles the lake can live without.

Not all pebbles have equal weight and value. And certainly, there is a form of a pebble that should be away from the lake, away from our minds. It is the “doom and gloom” pebble. This pebble causes unnecessary worry, emotional pain that need not be there. And I can think of no finer example than that of Kyrsten Sinema.

Sinema caved – just as Bill Palmer and others here at Palmer Report said she would. She and Manchin are a yes vote on the upcoming climate and tax legislation. But think of the months — the years — of worry. So much time frittered away—so many unnecessary pebbles.

This can be an awfully valuable learning experience if one lets it be. The thing is, Sinema was always going to do just what she did. As we go forward, it is imperative that people not let themselves get sucked into the undertow of doom. And that undertow will still be here, alive and glinting, waiting to suck you under.

It will be here tomorrow. It will be here next week. It isn’t going anywhere but can only suck you in if YOU let it. Don’t. Let’s celebrate the fact that the Democrats are turning the tide. We’re doing great, and if we keep it up, the pebble will turn into a giant rock that will make up a big part of your life — the rock of victory.
