The day Trump’s fate was sealed

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It was not a cold day that Trump’s fate was sealed. In fact, it was summer, August 26, 2022. The air where I am is hot and steamy. But it feels like it should be cold and icy — like Trump himself. Because Donald Trump has been flirting with the ice all his life.

Donald Trump knows well what it means to break the law. Can we even begin to count how many times he has flirted with disaster, thinking he’d be getting away with it all? There are far too many times to count.

And with the release of the DOJ affidavit Donald Trump has found himself in a situation he is not used to — being held accountable. Perhaps he never thought it would happen to him. He is so full of grandiosity and filled with brash over-confidence that he may have fooled himself as much as he fooled those poor individuals who signed up to Trump University.

But all good things come to those who wait—we’ve been waiting a long time for Justice. I have, you have, Michael Cohen has, Stormy Daniels has, E. Jean Carroll has, and countless people have waited for the arrival of Justice.

And now it’s here. Justice is indeed a funny thing. Sometimes it strikes when one least expects it. And for Trump, who has been skating on thin and cracked ice for years, in his own mind successfully skirting Justice, I imagine he does not like this at all. And that only makes this moment sweeter. And the sweeter it is for us, the worse it is for Trump, whose skating has come to a freezing cold end, as the ice has just melted.
