The day the GOP died

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The song “American Pie” by Don McLean has a long history. Released in the year 1971, the song lives on today as a classic. It never loses its power and retains its beauty as great songs are known to do. Yet, “American Pie” was born of tragedy. On February 3, 1959, Musicians Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson, and Buddy Holly were tragically killed in a plane crash and their pilot. Roger Peterson. People all over grieved, and the day became known as “The day the music died.” American Pie is about that terrible day. Now I want to refer you to another day. This day is February 4, 2022.

On this day, something also died. That “something” is the Republican party. February 4, 2022, is the day that the Republican party firmly showed the country whose side it’s been on — not that many of us didn’t already know. The “Grand Old Party” came out to support the traitors who would have seen our country in ruins.

RNC Chief Ronna McDaniel said it — and she can’t put the cat back in the bag: “a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

Thank you, Ronna, for at last telling the truth — and showing the American people the contempt in which your party holds this great country — and its Police Officers who fight for the said country every day.

With those words — as well as the censure the insurrection party not-so-lovingly — handed down to Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger — the non-party has shown their souls are with the insurrectionists — and if anybody crosses said insurrections, the punishment will indeed be punitive.

February 3, 1959, was an awful day. February 4, 2022, was also an awful day — for the GOP. With their true colors out, at last, the only real way to think of them now is the RIP party — the Republican insurrectionist party—May the Grand Old Party who once reigned rest in peace.
