The criminal referral against Steve Bannon is already paying off

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

At least five people from the Trump White House are now cooperating with the January 6th Committee, per CNN. This comes after former Trump DOJ official Jeffrey Clark, and former Bannon associate Dustin Stockman, have also decided to cooperate. It’s becoming more clear that the criminal referral against Steve Bannon has scared a bunch of other people into cooperating – which of course was the point all along.

Bannon was never going to cooperate with the subpoena, for fear of further incriminating himself while he’s under ongoing criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney. The committee certainly knew this going in. Yet they made a point of making sure Bannon was the first household name they subpoenaed, knowing full well that he couldn’t comply. They chose him so they could make an example out of him.

And while the pundits are still insisting that the criminal referral against Bannon is “nothing” and that Bannon is somehow magically winning as a result, the reality is that the subpoena is already paying off for the January 6th Committee. Bannon’s inevitable criminal prosecution by the DOJ will just be icing on the cake.
