The clown show continues

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even with George Santos out of Congress, the GOP continues to be an embarrassing clown show, and the closer we get to the 2024 election, it’s going to be harder and harder for Republicans to sell the line that they take out the worst of their troublemakers. Even out of Congress, Santos has promised to be a headache for them by seeking revenge against his colleagues with a whole lot of dirt that may or may not be true. Meanwhile, he’s far from the only rep who should’ve been expelled from the place.

On Monday, an ethics complaint was received against Rep. Mike Garcia who is alleged to have had non-public knowledge of some stocks he traded. If his name sounds familiar, that’s because back in 2020, he won a rather crowded special election in California’s 27th district, where several prominent Democrats vied for the seat. Already, this seat is being targeted by Democrats as one they can flip next year – and Republicans really have no ground to lose – particularly if they hope to set off an impeachment inquiry after President Biden next year. If forced to resign, Garcia would leave the GOP with just a single seat majority, which means their current farcical lack of order could get even worse in the year to come.
