The clock is now ticking
It turns out Donald Trump doesn’t owe $300-million plus to the state of New York. He owes closer to $500 million because several years of interest have been piled on, dating back to when he committed the acts of fraud. Moreover, that number appears set to grow even more.
The thing is, the clock is still ticking on the accumulating interest. If Trump tries to use nuisance filings to delay having to pay what he owes, he’ll end up owing what some are calculating as an additional $1 million in interest per week. So even if Trump tries to stall, it would only make things even more expensive for him.
Trump already faces an uphill battle trying to appeal this verdict, even as he’s still failed to file an appeal in the separate E. Jean Carroll verdict. Now it turns out he’ll apparently owe the state of New York more money by the week. And at some point his assets are just going to be taken from him in order to cover it all. Tick tock.
