Not only has Donald Trump slipped so far in the cognitive department that he doesn’t even understand what he’s trying to say anymore, he has his own top people running ragged and frayed. These are the people who are supposed to be propping him up, and yet he’s got them chasing their own tails in increasingly surreal ways.

Take, for instance, Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale. Amid recent reports that Trump finally saw his terrible internal poll numbers and threatened legal action against Parscale as a result, we’re now seeing Parscale behaving in increasingly bizarre ways. On Wednesday he tweeted a video of Elmo on a toilet. On Thursday he compared the Trump campaign to the Death Star from Star Wars, which was evil and lost. But he’s not the only one cracking at the seams.

Trump’s normally polished Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is now feeling the heat, to the point that he got into a Twitter feud with Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose of all people. Worse for Mnuchin, he was so sloppy about it, he ended up unwittingly asking Axl Rose what he’d done for Liberia lately, when he meant to ask him what he’d done for America lately.

Throw in White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany walking out of her own briefing after a tough question, and Mike Pence twisting himself in knots while trying to figure out whether Trump will let him get away with wearing a mask in public, and the whole regime is falling apart. The ceiling is caving in on Donald Trump, and the rubble is landing on everyone around him.
