The bus is leaving – and Donald Trump is under it
Last night Donald Trump finally gave in and signed the bipartisan $600 stimulus deal, after adding some line item vetoes that he appeared to mistakenly think counted for anything. Then today the Democratic House, plus 44 House Republicans, voted to approve a measure to boost it from $600 to $2,000. None of Trump’s demands were included in the new measure.
In other words, even as so many House Republicans continue to give Trump lip service, the reality is that they’re moving on from him. Sure, Louie Gohmert is filing a laugh out loud phony lawsuit over the vote certification that has literally zero chance of going anywhere. But look at all these House Republicans who voted in favor of the increased relief checks today, while completely ignoring Trump’s sideshow agenda. The bus is leaving – and Trump is under it.
– Tweet of the day, from Representative Katie Porter: “I just voted to increase survival checks from $600 to $2000—the number we’ve been pushing in the House and that the President agreed last week was necessary. Will Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell join members of both parties and actually bring this up for a vote?”
