The ass kissing has begun

Dear readers, we've just launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our PayPal Page or our GoFundMe Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

Yesterday Donald Trump held a press conference, in a reminder that his babysitters know they can’t keep hiding him now that he’s in office. Trump’s performance was shambolic even by his standards. This is a guy who once suggested people inject themselves with bleach. But yesterday was somehow beyond that. What Trump lacked in embarrassing one-liners, he also lacked in any cognitive awareness whatsoever.

At one point Trump was asked why he pardoned a January 6th terrorist who attacked a police officer. Trump seemed to be unaware that he had done so, and then began talking about Portland for some reason. He was asked about immigration and he started talking about “wine experts.” Trump made clear that he’s so far gone, he has no idea what’s even being said to him.

Yet when you look around at the headlines about Trump’s press conference, you won’t find one that addresses the obvious dementia symptoms that Trump put on display while trying to answer questions. You won’t even find one headline pointing out that Trump failed to provide a coherent answer to a single question. Instead it’s all, to varying degrees, a sane washed version of Trump’s crazy town performance.

For that matter most major newspapers ran headlines about Trump’s inauguration that merely parroted his claim of a “bold” new vision. You’d think the headlines would address the fact that Trump’s definition of “bold” is equal parts unconstitutional and fascist, but once again, Trump gets sane washed. And it was across the board. ESPN, which is supposed to be solely a sports network, inexplicably aired a ninety second propaganda video from Trump on inauguration day with no explanation.

In other words, the media is indeed kissing Donald Trump’s ass about as hard as it possibly can. We all saw this coming, given that the entire media spent the entire 2024 election going dishonestly soft on him, while dishonestly chasing President Biden out of the race. We saw it even more blatantly when major news outlets began doing everything they could to win Trump’s favor during the transition period. So of course now that he’s in power, they’re bending the knee even further.

And so we have a situation where a 100% senile “President of the United States” can get up there and give 100% incoherent answers at a press conference, to the point that he probably should have been led away for his own cognitive safety afterwards, and the public doesn’t know Trump is senile because the media WON’T WRITE THE STORY.

We’ll see how long this lasts. Just as yesterday’s press conference proved that Trump’s babysitters can’t cover for him forever, the media can’t cover for Trump forever either. The more this empty vessel tries and fails to interact with the public, the more the public is going to see that he’s essentially a walking corpse.
