The Arizona election “audit” is in full scale collapse

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The racist clown show that is the Arizona ballot audit has been rightfully rebuked by the media – including a number of conservatives as terrible for democracy, but there’s new statistics that show it’s also terrible for the GOP, particularly for the party in Arizona. Even in the remote chance that the audit showed Trump did win Arizona, it wouldn’t have changed anything for the election.

A new poll shows that Arizonans overwhelmingly oppose the audit, with nearly half of them strongly opposed. However, the survey of 600 likely voters showed that the opposition to it is five points stronger than its overall support. Democrats and Republicans included in the survey polled as one would expect, but independents, who are generally turned off by extremist viewpoints of any kind, are opposed to the audit by 18 points. The survey also included a head-to-head rematch between President Biden and Donald Trump, showing that if the 2020 election were held today, Biden would win by 7 points – 44-51 percent, topping the vote percentage he won in Arizona in November 2020, a state his team hardly campaigned in.

Also bear in mind that in 2020, while Arizona polls that showed the state was a dead heat between Biden and the former guy, virtually none of them showed Biden with over 50% support. At Palmer Report, we always figured that the audit wouldn’t bring anyone in who wasn’t on Team Trump already – but it looks like it has – energizing the people that Republicans shouldn’t want to energize.
