That’s it for Steve Bannon

Steve Bannon has been doing everything possible to try to avoid going to prison, but that ship sailed awhile ago. He got lucky when he happened to randomly draw a trial judge who was willing to let him stay out of prison while appealing the verdict (if Bannon had drawn the same judge that Peter Navarro drew, he’d be in prison already). But that luck has run out, and now Bannon just lost the last appeal he’s going to get.

Bannon was ordered to report to prison on July 1st. He tried a last ditch filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals, but they just shot him down, and so he’s still firmly on track for July 1st. The Supreme Court isn’t going to make some kind of last minute intervention in Bannon’s case, so this means Bannon is out of appeals and is, quite plainly, finished. Actually, it gets worse for him.

Because Bannon dragged out his four month federal prison sentence for so long, he’s now on track to be in prison for nearly all of the remainder of the election cycle. He’s also now set to be in federal prison while he’s on trial for massive fraud in New York. And once he’s convicted on those charges, he’ll go to prison for several years. Like we said, Bannon is finished. Then again, he was finished awhile ago.
