That was quick: Rep. Jim Jordan just flip flopped and is now running for Speakership again
Earlier today Jim Jordan pulled the plug on his bid to become Speaker of the House, at least for now, when he canceled the scheduled third round of voting even as House Republicans lined up behind a plan to temporarily elevate Interim Speaker Patrick McHenry.
But then Jordan’s allies announced that the McHenry plan is dead, and Jordan is now telling CNN that he’s back in the Speaker race. He intends to try to win over the votes he needs and perhaps even hold another vote today.
So here we go again. Jim Jordan and his allies are trying to set things up so that the rest of the House Republicans face a choice of either Jordan or no one. Given how much they clearly hate Jordan, they might well end up choosing no one.
