That was fast…
So much for Ronna McDaniel’s makeover. ABC News reported that NBC dropped her as a contributor. Good. All we need is yet another liar with a platform. According to the report, many of NBC’s top talent went ballistic upon the naming of Ronna McDaniel as a contributor. In acquiescence to the people who drive viewers to NBC, NBCU News Group Chairman Cesar Conde wrote: “There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group. After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.” Many will cry “foul” or “that’s not fair,” but we all make choices in life. No one blames Ronna McDaniel for taking the RNC chair position-it used to be a highly respected position when people like Michael Steele held it. Their failure and refusal to denounce Trump, and to make matters worse, allow him to install his unqualified daughter-in-law in a leadership position, has ruined the organization. Michael Steele despises Donald Trump and everything for which he stands. Take, for example, the recent news that Donald Trump is selling Bibles. Steele posted: “Everything is a damn grift with this guy. You know @realDonaldTrump your ass would have been thrown out of the Temple by Jesus, right?”
Steele could obviously care less what Trump or anyone else thinks. It’s called standing by your principles. McDaniel is the opposite. She tried to help Trump overturn the election in Michigan by trying to bribe to electors to withhold their votes from certification. She vilified the media by parroting “fake news” and denigrated them at every turn. Then, she wants to work with them. Steele stood by his principles; McDaniel gets to stand by her hypocrisy. The “powers that be” at NBC News weren’t thinking when they hired McDaniel, but praise and thanks go out to everyone who spoke against this bad idea. According to the New York Times, it wasn’t only on-air personalities who complained.
NYT reported that fans of MSNBC were outraged and shared their feelings on social media, particularly considering McDaniel’s claims that the 2020 election was “stolen.” To make matters even more embarrassing for McDaniel, NYT reached out for comment and learned that she didn’t yet know she had been fired. Hate it for her. While Conde viewed McDaniel’s hiring as part of a “broader range of political perspectives,” Rachel Maddow pointed out why she was the wrong choice. Maddow compared McDaniel to “historical figures who attempted authoritarian takeovers of the government.” While that may seem harsh, it’s not far from the truth. She helped Donald Trump spread his lies. According to NYT, Maddow wasn’t the only one who complained. She was joined by Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Nicolle Wallace, a former Republican who said, “NBC had given a green light for election deniers to spread falsehoods as paid contributors to our sacred airwaves.” Showing a different political viewpoint is fine-if that viewpoint is truthful. As one commenter on NYT said: “It’s not partisan to deny a platform to an insurrectionist.”
