That should do the trick
How did last night’s presidential debate go? At one point Donald Trump said “Run spot run” and it was the closest thing to a coherent answer he gave all night. Kamala Harris ran all over Trump so badly last night, you would have expected there to be tire tracks on him. She nailed Trump on the issues. She baited Trump into ranting about crowd sizes and such. Most importantly, she managed to destroy Trump while looking highly presidential herself.
But you already knew that, because you watched the debate and you have eyes and ears. The real story is that Kamala won by such a huge, glaring, blatant, almost comical margin, it left no doubt. Even if you came into this debate with low expectations for Trump because of how addled he is, Trump still managed to under-perform. The reality is that this debate was over within the first ten minutes.
Before the debate I pointed out that while Kamala Harris is firmly leading in the polling averages by about a four point margin, her lead stopped growing a month ago. While there have been swing state shifts of late, the national situation has been stagnant. I said that if Harris clearly won the debate – not just won it but clearly won it – that should be enough to get her poll numbers climbing again. I’m betting that this blowout of a debate will indeed start moving the needle again.
So let’s spend the morning popping the proverbial champagne over the debate victory, and then let’s remember that there are still sixty days to go and anything can happen. Even if Trump only has a 10% chance of winning, that’s still 10% too high. By the end of the day we need to roll up our sleeves and get back to work. Want to make sure Kamala Harris wins?
