House Republican James Comer has spent all this time publicly demanding that the FBI give him a document that he claimed proved Biden guilty of, well, something. Comer has even threatened to criminally refer FBI Director Christopher Wray for contempt of congress over it.
Now it turns out the document was originally provided to the FBI by Rudy Giuliani, per a new report from CNN. These House Republicans just can’t stop stepping in it.
It’s not just that House Republicans are being dishonest and disingenuous. We’ve pretty much come to expect that from them over the past generation. What’s remarkable is just how inept they are at trying to be dishonest and disingenuous.
Republican politicians used to understand that in order to get any mileage out of a phony scandal, they needed to get the mainstream media on board with it, so the mainstream media would sell it to average voters in the middle. But today’s Republican politicians don’t appear to understand that at all. They push lunatic stuff that panders solely to their base, which is an automatic way to lose seats in the House and Senate in every election.
