Donald Trump tips off that he knows terrible news for him is about to land

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

All kinds of things are playing out today when it comes to Donald Trump’s criminal scandals, but it’s not yet clear precisely how they fit together. Jerome Corsi just blew off his plea deal negotiations against Roger Stone. Robert Mueller is seemingly about to pounce on big fish. So what’s really going on? Let’s ask Trump himself.

Donald Trump spent the morning ranting and raving about how Robert Mueller supposedly isn’t going to find anything (the five key Trump advisers who have pleaded guilty would beg to differ). But then this afternoon came the big giveaway, as Trump took a huge stab at one of his favorite distraction targets, in a way that he knew would garner headlines.

Here’s what Trump tweeted: “While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition. Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”

Not only is Donald Trump talking about destroying CNN, he’s talking about launching Soviet style state-sponsored television to push his phony propaganda around the world. Of course Trump isn’t within a million miles of having the leverage to pull this off (and Fox News already fits the description anyway). But this is a clear attempt at ensuring negative CNN-related headlines for himself, in the hope that those headlines will compete for the public’s attention with whatever terrible news for him is about to surface. Trump always does it this way when he knows things are about to get particularly ugly.
