Ted Lieu puts Donald Trump in his place

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We’re just days away from what is sure to be an embarrassing and potentially disastrous Donald Trump-controlled Fourth of July celebration, and Trump is revealing just how absurd the entire thing is going to be. Or at least he’s revealing how absurd he thinks it’s going to be in his delusional mind, because some of the things he’s talking about don’t actually exist.

The Washington Post served up this quote from Donald Trump about his parade: “And we’re gonna have some tanks stationed outside … So we have to put them in certain areas but we have the brand new Sherman tanks and we have the brand new Abram tanks.” There are a few problems immediately evident here. For starters, why is Trump including military tanks in what is supposed to be a civilian celebration? With all due respect to the military, this is nothing short of absurd.

But then came the bigger obstacle to Donald Trump’s authoritarian fantasy: he doesn’t know anything. Congressman Ted Lieu, a military veteran, was quick to jump in and inform Trump that “the US hasn’t made any Sherman tanks in over 60 years.” That’s right, the Commander-in-Chief of the United States military has no idea what kind of tanks are even in the military, or what kind of tanks even exist. Lieu then added: “Also, why are you suing to eliminate health care coverage for Americans with pre-existing conditions?”
