Ted Lieu just nailed it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Cherokee County Sheriff spokesman made a bizarre, tone-deaf, and outrageous statement today when he claimed that the white man who shot several Asian-Americans last night was merely having a “bad day.”

We don’t yet know for 100% certain that this was a hate crime, as there’s perhaps a remote chance there could have been some other motivation that we don’t yet know about. But what we do know is that the Sheriff’s department was totally out of line for sympathizing with the shooter – a reminder of just how omnipresent white privilege is in these situations.

Congressman Ted Lieu said it best today:

Ted Lieu then spelled out why this is very much looking like a racist hate crime so far: “The murderer targeted Young’s ASIAN Massage Parlor. He then drove 27 miles to another ASIAN spa. Here’s a review of Gold’s Spa: ‘Good atmosphere with Korean girls giving proper massage.’ If the murderer’s temptations are Asian women and he kills them, that’s racially motivated.”
