There is clearly no one who wants to be Donald Trump’s new White House Chief of Staff. Why would anyone want to take the helm of a sinking ship, only to lose the job as soon as Trump is ousted, and then probably end up criminally indicted for having conspired with Trump? Now Trump is floating one of his most idiotic ideas yet, and let’s just say that Congressman Ted Lieu isn’t having any of it.

Donald Trump has leaked that he’s looking at hiring his own son-in-law Jared Kushner as his new White House Chief of Staff, and they’ve even gone so far as to hold meetings about it. That would obviously be inappropriate for too many reasons to list, leading Ted Lieu to tweet that Trump had become “D E S P E R A T E” โ€“ but he was just getting started.

Congressman Lieu went on to pose two questions to Donald Trump: “Can Jared Kushner be Chief of Staff if he can’t get beyond a medium level security clearance? And one more question. Do we want a Chief of Staff who is in the pocket of Saudi Arabia?” Come to think of it, this idea is so unrealistically absurd, we’re left to wonder if it’s a smokescreen.

By all accounts, Donald Trump has come to despise Jared Kushner, and he partly blames Kushner for the advancing Trump-Russia criminal investigation. It was also reported yesterday that Trump forced Kushner to go on Fox News as “punishment” for his role in losing Nick Ayers. Now Trump suddenly wants to put Kushner in the role? He could be leaking this so that, after the predictable outrage about Kushner, his actual pick โ€“ which at this point will have to be someone completely unqualified โ€“ won’t look as horrible in comparison.
